Hi once again. I hope that you are ready for summer because it is already here! We have had temperatures up in the ninety’s here in Alabama already and it isn’t our “hot” season yet!!
We have been talking about Faith. Family and Friends for the past three months. Those are the first three “F” words in my Legacy. My book, Mama’s Legacy, has finally been published and is available on Amazon.Com.
There you will find the other four “F” words. I am so excited about it and hope that you take the opportunity to read it. School is finally out and vacations, swimming, family reunions, bar-b-ques are happening. Summer is an easy time to just take it easy and relax and let our Spiritual Growth take a vacation too. The danger in that is that we won’t pick it back up in the Fall and we will have missed several months of drawing closer to God.
Our ladies Sunday School class is studying women of the Bible during these summer months and this past Sunday, we looked at Hannah in I Samuel. I have studied about that sweet mother many times, but this time, God showed me and practical important tool to use during a difficult time. A nugget of truth from His Word.
Hannah was barren and suffering ridicule because she had no children. She promised God that if He would allow her to have a man-child, that she would give him back to the Lord as long as he lived. God answered her prayer and gave her a son (Samuel). She kept him at home for several years while he was nursing and then took him to the temple and gave him back to God as she had promised. As a mother, it would be impossible for me to surrender my small son to the priest, to live in the temple for the rest of his life serving God, but Hannah did and when she left, she praised God. Read I Samuel chapter two and see the wonderful praise song that she sang.
God showed me that through Him, we can praise the Lord in all of our trying times; those times when we are grieved, we can praise Him, when we are sick, we can praise Him, when any circumstances that are painful come our way, we can praise Him. That’s what He desires from us is our praise and worship. Don’t take the summer off in your spiritual growth, but search for a precious nugget of truth from God. I promise that He has one for you if you only ask.
Praying for each of you during this summer, Margie
