We are now heading toward December 25th at warp speed. I hope that you have been busy giving gifts to the Savior already. I am into planning the week from December 6th to December 12th. We don’t have much time left but there are still so many gifts that we can give Him.
You might ask, “How is giving something to a stranger he same as giving a gift to Christ”? That’s a good question, but as always, God shows us in His word that if we give anything to another in His name it is the same as if we gave it to Him personally.
Matthew 25:40 is where we find it.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me
We can give gifts to the Savior by giving gifts to others. We can give food, clothing, shelter, kind words, encouragement, hope and help. Many gifts that we give only take time and not monetary resources although we can do that too as we are able. You can schedule your gifts to suit you and your resources. Make it your personal month of gifts to the Savior.
This is my schedule for that week:
December 7th –Send cards and make calls to shut-ins
December 8th – Going through a drive-thru restaurant and paying the bill for the person behind me in line
December 9th – Take a friend that I haven’t seen in a while to lunch
December 10th – Give a Poinsettia to someone that I don’t know
December 11th – Give a server a $20.00 tip
December 12th – Take my great-grandchildren shopping for needy children
Things are getting a lot busier and time is quickly becoming a priceless commodity, but we must keep focused on our goal. A gift for the Savior each day in December up to His birthday!
Don’t forget that as we are giving gifts to others, we still need to give the gift of Him to ourselves by getting into His Word and spending time with Him in prayer each day. That will prepare our hearts for the task that is ahead of us and will make this Christmas more special than any (you know who) movies!!!!!
